Before You, We Were

A space for stories we lived long before everything became instant and online.

Growing up meant learning life through friendships, playing outside with friends, long conversations that stretched late into the night, teenage mischief , mistakes we survived  and lessons we carried with us.

From The Archives

A Letter To The Young 'Uns.

Before you, I was…” was something my mother would say whenever we acted as though she couldn’t possibly understand our generation - as if we were the All knowing ones.

At the time, we thought them so old fashioned,  they would never be able to understand what we were talking about.

Thinking back, it feels like time repeating itself.

Because here we are, looking at a new generation and them thinking the exact same thing.

Before you all arrived, we - the OGs, the original baddies, were already living life in full color. The friendships. The chaos. The teenage mischief. The mistakes. The fashion. The heartbreaks. The freedom. The lessons. All of it.

This page is a collection of those moments. Life as I and my friends have experienced growing up, and living now. No filters, narrated just as I recall them.

These are stories, reflections, memories and observations from a generation that has been there, done that — and is finally writing it down.

If there was no Social Media, what did you guys do all day?

This was one of the things that kept us quite busy. We read lots of novels especially the

Macmillan Pacesetters collection.

There were a total of 130 novels in total.

The first one I read was "Christmas in The City".

We also had the Harlequin romance, Mills and Boon as well as the very famous James Hadley Chase. We also found a lot of time to party, visit our friends homes.

Most times our parents did not have the faintest idea where we were, but we just knew when it was time to go home.

Which was your first one?
